The OCAC held their annual Manager’s Meeting this evening in preparation for the 2014 baseball season.
- Schedules are expected to be available as of April 11th
- The season for the 8u, 10u and 12u teams will begin the week of April 21st
- The season for the 5/6u team will begin the week of May 5th
- Games will be played on week nights
Only one new rule change was implemented affecting any of our teams. The 8u teams will play a 6-inning game with a maximum 1 hour 30 minute time limit. Last year we played 5 inning games and were usually completed well within the time limit. We see this as a good change.
A lot of time was spent reminding Manager’s on the importance of treating the umpires with respect and courtesy. Fortunately our fans, coaches and players have done a good job restraining from harassing the umpires and this is something we’ll clearly be expecting again in 2014. Regardless of how other teams act at the ballpark, we will continue to hold those affiliated with the Bombers Program to a very high standard when it comes to how we interact with Umpires, Coaches and Players on the opposing team. As a reminder, the only person who will raise an issue with the Umpire will be the Manager of the team. Thanks for helping to set a good example for our boys.
Picture Day – We will be scheduling a Bombers Picture Day at the home of the River City Rascals. Once a date and time has been selected we will communicate to the group.
