O’Fallon, MO – August 19 – The River City Rascals defeated the Southern Illinois Miners 5-3 on Sunday at T.R. Hughes Ballpark for their 4th consecutive victory. The Rascals maintain a 2 game lead in the West Division of the Frontier League over 2nd place Schaumburg Boomers.
Yet the biggest win of the night might have taken place before the game ever started.
The Caring and Sharing Food Bank received over 500 items of food to be distributed to families in need as a result of a local youth baseball program gathering to celebrate their season at the Rascals game. As part of celebrating the season, boys ages 5 to 12 and their families, came together to show their support for a worthy cause before being recognized on the field during the playing of the national anthem.
“It was a pleasure working with the Bombers teams for such a great food drive. We estimated over 500 items of food were donated.
Caring and Sharing really appreciated being part of this special food drive,” said Janie Bickham of Caring and Sharing Food Pantry.
The Bombers Baseball program offered teams competing in the 5/6u, 8u, 10u and 12u age divisions through the O’Fallon Community Athletic Club this past summer.
